The year that was 2008

I hope everyone had a good year. I can't believe it went so fast. Seems like yesterday I was auditioning for Pillowman (which opened to rave reviews in March) and teaching Theatre History class (The showcase rocked!) Then there was the Hobbit, my directorial debut. (in May)  Also I wrote four pieces over the year, Troupe in the trunk, Loveland's Show, Legend of the Flying Dutchman and the Venice Middle School show. Wow!  And I acted in three of the summer shows to boot! (playing the Fool in King Lear was fun) I'm pooped! And of course the best news of the year . . . winning the State competition for The School for Wives!!! It was also fun to be nominated for best supporting actor for Pillowman, (and coming in second) thanks to all who voted for me. Next year will even be better!!!  Love to my students who did an amazing job in the Performance Art Showcase In the Brain of a Teenager (we missed you Syd) And congrats to those of you (Flower, Timmy and the Balliets) who were cast in The Christmas Carol.  Best of luck to Rox and Dominic who auditioned for The Sound of Music. Jazz, Sandiepaws and I will be gearing up in January to start production on The Outsiders which auditions in March, my second directorial duty.

I am leaving you with some pictures from the recent show Nickeled and Dimed which my good friend Becky Holahan starred in. She had this to say:

" I have "survived" the most challenging and important piece that I have ever experienced in my small career as an actor. Not every moment was real due to the structure of the dialog, the many words to spit out, and my age! But, in retrospect, I have learned that "our whole lives are subsidized by the working poor."  Nickel and Dimed is a book that possibly you might want to read."
